Finding Print Books

Folklore is classified in the Library of Congress classification system under the call number GR. Collections of fairy tales - like the Grimm brothers' version - may be found in the fiction call numbers under P or on the first floor under the author's last name. You can browse the books on the shelves in the GR section, or search the catalog for a particular title.

If you find a book in the catalog that you'd like to check out, be sure to write down the call number - it should look something like this: GR550 .Z56 1994. When you are looking at it on the book spine (or front cover) it will look more like this:

GR
550
.Z56
1994

Unsure where to find the GR section? Ask a librarian.

To find only eBooks, which can be read on any computer with internet access, follow these steps:

  • Type a single keyword, followed by the word AND (all capitalized). If your topic has multiple keywords, connect them using AND as well. Click Search.
