A study group is a small group of students that works together outside of class to understand and review course material and study skills. Participating in a study group is one of the best (and most fun) ways to strengthen your grades and learning!
One way to create a study group is by talking to your classmates (in person or online) to find out who might be interested. You could even ask your professor to tell the class about your study group and encourage students to join.
You can also find other study group members by networking through the Learning Commons. Use the button below to fill out the quick Study Group Networking form.
Follow the tips below to have a successful study session!

In Person at the Downtown or Southwest Learning Commons
The Downtown and Southwest Learning Commons have spaces for group study.
*To use a study room Downtown, check out the key at the central service desk.
Online Using Microsoft Teams
You can create your own online meeting using Microsoft Teams. The meeting will have chat, audio, and video. Teams also has a whiteboard and an option for closed captioning.
One option is to schedule a meeting (and here’s how to join a meeting). Another option is to make a video call.
Online Using Brainfuse MEET
You can create your own online study room by using Brainfuse MEET. The study room will have chat, audio, and video, and also a great whiteboard.
One group member can create a meeting and invite everyone else. To create a meeting, enter Brainfuse. Then scroll down and select the MEET tile. When the meeting details are filled out, all participants will be emailed a link to the session.
For more information about how to use Brainfuse MEET, read this guide to using MEET or watch the video below.
Do you want more help, in addition to your study group? Come to tutoring!
You can meet with a tutor one-on-one, or, if your entire study group needs help with the same concept or assignment, you can all meet with a tutor together. This type of small group tutoring works best with 2-4 people. To schedule a small group appointment, email tutoring at jf-tutoring@kctcs.edu.
