Coffee & Conversation

Every Tuesday | 11:00am-1:00pm | Smith Library, Downtown Programming Space (Lobby)

Join the Librarians in the Learning Commons for free coffee, snacks and great conversation. Subjects vary from week to week. Come have a chat, make new friends, and foster a wider Jefferson community!


On July 29th, we'll be discussing The Storyteller's Death by Ann Davila Cardinal. Borrow your copy from JCTC's Overdrive or Libby on or after July 17th. 

Dungeons and Dragons

The Learning Commons is hosting Dungeons and Dragons this Fall, 2025. If you are interested in playing please contact jerica.lowe@kctcs.edu with your availability or post in our Tabletop RPG section in Discord

Fall Groups:

Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos

In this campaign you are adventures attending a fantasy university. You are an incoming freshmen invited to attend the selective Midguard Institute of the Magical Arts. This university has five schools where you will learn how to improve your skills and abilities. There will be a school tournament at the end of the campaign.

  • Mondays - 5-7pm
  • Thursdays - 10:15am-12:00pm

The Sunless Citadel

In the village of Oakhurst, just before the Summer Solstice, a group of adventures have gone missing. The Matriarch of the noble family of Hucrele--mother to two of the missing adventurers--wishes to hire a party to find her children. Meanwhile, Mayor Vurnor Leng is concerned that goblins have stolen his magical apple sapling right out of his backyard!

  • Wednesdays - 10am-12:00pm
  • Fridays - 1pm-3pm

D&D - Adventure League

Wednesday, November 19th | Time: TBD | Learning Commons Smith Library Room 231

On November 19th, the Learning Commons will be hosting a Dungeons and Dragons Adventures League event. We will have several tables running the same campaign simultaneously! You are welcome to bring one friend. 

Setting and rules will be announced closer to the event.


What is Adventures League?

Adventures League is D&D drop in/drop out campaign system. These adventures are designed to be episodic, so your character can be made and played at any Adventure League event, including here at school, many gaming shops, and conventions.

2025 Game Awards Watch Party

Thursday, December 11th | 7:30pm-11:00ish pm | Discord

Watch the 2025 Gaming Awards with the Learning Commons! We will be holding a watch party over Discord and we'll have pick'ems available a few weeks before. The student that gets the most correct, will earn a unique Discord title and bragging rights for the year.

All Game of the Year nominations will be added to the Gaming Lounge collection!

Cozy Retro Consoles

December 8-12 | Time: All Day | Smith Library, Downtown Gaming Lounge

Throughout the week of finals, the Gaming Lounge will be hosting a cozy retro event. Relax and take a break with our cozy games. We'll have snacks, drinks (covered!), and blankets. Additionally, each day we will have a different retro console hooked up.

  • Monday: Atari 2600
  • Tuesday: N64
  • Wednesday: Wii
  • Thursday: Student choice!
  • Friday: Rock Band/Guitar Hero set up.
