Coffee & Conversation

Every Tuesday | 11:00am-1:00pm | Smith Library, Downtown Programming Space (Lobby)

Join the Librarians in the Learning Commons for free coffee, snacks and great conversation. Subjects vary from week to week. Come have a chat, make new friends, and foster a wider Jefferson community!

Dungeons and Dragons

The Learning Commons is hosting Dungeons and Dragons groups throughout the fall semester. We are currently playing through The Lost Mines of Phandelver.

Since we are in the midst of a campaign, we are not accepting any new players. However, if you are interested in joining the next semester's campaign, contact jerica.lowe@kctcs.edu with your availability or post in our Tabletop RPG section in Discord.

Gamemastering 101

Role-Playing Games (RPGs) - such as the most popular and well-known Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) - are a fun, communal activity that a group of people participate in to tell stories, use their imagination, and experience incredible fantasies! Come and learn the skills and strategies to make you table-ready for the important role of the Gamemaster, the judge and facilitator of the game and the world the game exists in. It will be taught by Chris Tatum, current Vice President of NerdLouisville, a forever Gamemaster, and CFO of Lurking Fears, LLC an event management company that specializes in RPG marketing and RPG conventions. The course will be four, 1 to 2-hour lessons and will include an exercise at the end of the course where students will complete and present an original RPG scenario synopsis and “hook” (introduction) to the class.

Workshops will be the following dates:

  • April 3rd, 5:00pm-7:00pm
  • April 24th, 5:00pm-7:00pm
