What is an Annotated Bibliography?

Define

The first step in the research process deals with DEFINING what the assignment requires of you.
This also includes defining what you know about the topic, so you understand what you will need to do next.

Questions you should ask yourself:
  • What problem am I solving?
  • What information do I need?
  • What do I already know?
  • What else do I need to learn?

Answering these questions will help you develop a strategy and come up with keywords for searching.

KeyWords for this assignment

Once you have decided which issue you will research, identify some key words to use in your search.

For example: if you are investigating Food and Marketing/Advertising in America  keywords might include : food or groceries or fast food as well as marketing or advertising. As you search, you will begin to identify additional search terms that are useful. Think of your early searches as practice, and expect to change your search terms over the course of your research.
