Use the Library Search to find books, eBooks, articles, and more!
The JCTC Libraries use the Library of Congress classification system, which groups non-fiction books on the same topics together on the shelves.
Once you find a book that you'd like to check out, be sure to write down the call number - it should look something like this: E 806 .H555 2009. Click on the link to see how you'll find that information from the book's holdings record.
When you get to the bookshelves, the call numbers will be listed on the spine of the book. It should look like this:
E
806
.H555
2009
The tutorial below on reading call numbers can help you find your books. Or you can ask a librarian.
This short video from Pollak Library from California State University, Fullerton explains how to use Library of Congress call numbers to find books.
Here are just some of the books owned by the library that may help you research topics related to how technology has changed the way we live.
Your search for books in the library catalog may lead to electronic books, or e-books.
Sometimes, you'll need a book or article that is not available in the library collection. If the item is available in another library's collection, we can often borrow it for your use. To request an Interlibrary Loan (also called ILL) check with your campus librarian. You'll need to know the title, author and publication information (date and publisher). It can take 1-3 weeks or more to obtain an item through ILL, so plan ahead. For a magazine or journal article, print the citation from the database and we'll try to get a copy from another library.
